About MeBlack georgette evening dress tamboured with round and silver bugle beads. Dresses like this one were the height of fashion in the 1920s. The all over beaded patterns may have looked glamorous and moved wonderfully, but they presented their wearers with various problems. Sitting down was hazardous and the weight of so many beads often strained the usually frail silk grounds on which they were sewn. Worn by the donors' grandmother of Skene House, Aberdeenshire.
