From 1943 enrolled assistant nurses were entered on a "roll" (separate from the nurses' register). In 1961 the title became "Enrolled Nurse" until they became obsolete in 1983 when the General Nursing Council for Scotland was incorporated into the National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting.
