About MeThis picture was painted in 1957 and shows three boys with their dog gathering fuel for the fire that is blazing in the background, sending a column of smoke up into the chilly air.Morrocco's parents come from Southern Italy, so it is not surprising to learn that he prefers to paint 'hot arid, landscapes'. Aberdeen's other figure composition by the artist, painted 12 years later, shows two boys, stripped to the waist, eating water-melons on a Sicilian beach.
With its subdued colours and soft tonality this early work by Morrocco is quite at variance with the bright and colourful work with which Morrocco is more often associated.
More About Me
Morocco’s work was typically bright and colourful, but here the subdued colours and tonality suit the winter scene.
