About MeDuring World War Two many faced severe shortages. Beneath this floral apron is a smart day dress made from practical fabric available during the war. It was designed by Norman Hartnell for Berkertex, and complied with the Utility Scheme regulations in place at the time.

Clothing had to be kept in good condition so aprons were widely worn in domestic settings to protect clothes for longer use.
