About MeMichael Ayrton was a sculptor as well as a painter and a sculptural influence is evident in the angularity of the forms of the girl and her cat. He said himself that he believed an artist should have a series of obsessional forms which he should work on again and again, and these for him were his acrobat sculptures and paintings of a man carrying a live creature. This lithograph may have developed from this theme.
