About MeCaptain William Baillie was an 18th century connoisseur and gifted amateur artist. His engravings were either copies of Rembrandt's plates or in the style of Rembrandt. They were gathered together and published in1792 in two folio volumes, titled 'A Series of 225 Prints and Etchings after Rembrandt, Teniers, G. Dou, Poussin, and others.' This volume has had several plates removed but contains over 40 etchings, mezzotints and engravings by Captain Baillie and others. Captain Baillie owned at least one of Rembrandt's original plates - "Christ Healing the Sick" also known as "The Hundred Guilder Print". He acquired the plate, already worn down by repeated printings and made the questionable decision to re-work it, printing 100 impressions.
