About MeBetween 1839 and 1942, Daumier made sixty lithographs of the Mœurs Conjugales series, which were published in Charivari. The jokes at the bottom of the prints were at this time composed by Philipon or others in the Charivari offices but, from the 1860s, Daumier wrote his own quips. In this scene, the 'animal' characters of a discordant middle-aged couple perfectly illustrate the caption. Yet Daumier's caricatures never become dehumanised and this is especially evident in his studies of domestic life.More About Me
In a UK survey, more than 70% of owners admitted feeding their pets with human food with only one in seven of them feeling guilty about it.
