About MeThis is a nineteenth century engraving by Italian print-maker, Alban Guadaguini, after Rembrandt's Self Portrait in oil of 1634, which is in the Uffizi, Florence. Rembrandt portrays himself wearing a piece of armour, a gorget, which protects the throat. The significance of this is not known but may be a declaration of his patriotic allegiance to the Netherlands in the ongoing struggle against the Spanish which was not resolved until 1648.
