About MeThis blue shutdown station was one of several on the now decommissioned Maureen Alpha platform. This particular ESD (Emergency Shut Down) point was located inside the main electrical switchroom .

The platform had various levels of shutdown:

White - was a shutdown of the platform oil and gas production i.e. automatic closure of well Christmas tree valves and allowing some of the process system equipment to remain operational..

Red - was the next level of production shutdown and which closed the remaining oil and gas process equipment.

Blue - was the next stage of shutdown and a closed the majority of the platform electrical systems by shutting down the gas turbine power generators.
Effectively, all that was left running were the platform life support systems and emergency escape systems, power being supplied to these systems by an emergency generator and batteries.

Yellow - The highest level of emergency shutdown was only activated at the final stage of abandonment of the platform, this cut the final power sources.
