About MeWhen the oil is extracted from the reservoir it contains a variety of compounds including water. In the reservoir this may amount to as much as 40% of the content. In addition water is also injected into the wells to help increase the flow of gas and oil to the surface. This water has to be extracted from the oil at the processing stage, usually offshore on a main installation. This is done by passing the oil through a compressor at high pressure, which allows the lighter oil to be extracted.
This gauge indicated the pressure inside one such compressor.
