About MeThe Silver Pit was one of the vessels involved in trying to rescue survivors from Piper Alpha in 1988. It was retired from Safety duties like most of the converted trawler fleet in the North Sea in 1993 after a change in legislation.
Like other vessels of its type it was not really capable of doing the job it was supposed to do despite heroic efforts on the part of the crew.
