About Me'The Hansom Cab and the Pigeons' by L.A.G. Strong was another commission for Ravilious from the Golden Cockerel Press. It was published for the Silver Jubilee of George V in 1935 and was a most successful book.

Revealing his quirky sense of humour, Ravilious contrasted the battered old hansom cab of the frontispiece with another illustration of a train and aeroplane in flight overhead.

More About Me

This engraving is whimsical and playful in nature, reminiscent of a cab you might find in Alice in Wonderland!
