About MeJames Cowie (16 May 1886 – 18 April 1956) was a Scottish painter and teacher. His work displayed meticulous draughtsmanship based on his use of many preparatory drawings. Study for "Two Schoolgirls" is one such example. When choosing models for his paintings from among his students, Cowie looked for children with strong, often ungainly features.
