About MeThe estate of Mounie, situated three miles north west of Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, was in the hands of the Seton family from 1714 until 1970, when Mounie Castle was sold and the family papers deposited in Aberdeen University Library.

This sketchbook, which dates from 1828-1829, contains the work of an amateur artist, possibly Alexander Anderson Seton (1769 - 1850) or may be juvenile work by his eldest son Alexander Seton (1815-1852). It contains views of the artist's family home, Seton Hall, New and Old Aberdeen, Dee Street, the Bridge of Don, Bridge of Dee (inscribed with the information that the artist's kinsman Bonny John Seton of Pitcarth was killed there 1630) and also views of Broadstairs and Thainstone. Also included are sketches of horses and riders, life studies and on the inside back cover, watercolours of flowers, inscribed with a rhyme
