About MeJames Mcbey was born and raised in Aberdeen but spent the majority of his career working abroad. He visited Morocco in 1912 and returned to the country for several months each year for the following forty-seven years. He found the country and its people fascinating, he wrote;

'Since we have arrived we have done nothing but stand with mouths agape and codfish eyes, whilst the Arabian Nights have unrolled before us…It really is a wonderful place. From an artist's point of view the material is unlimited, but I fear it would take years to tap.'
