About MeThe Lloyds Signal Station (now a private house) is on the Lizard in Cornwall. It was built in 1872 and taken over by Lloyds in 1883. It operated until 1969.
The way it worked was that passing vessels would signal by semaphore flag the station the name of the vessel and destination and this would be telegraphed from the station to London so that the ships could receive orders without needing to enter port do so.
