About MeView of the Salvation Army Citadel, designed 1893-1896 by James Souttar stands as like a terminal to the east end of Union Street. The turreted granite building follows some of the architectural style of Balmoral Castle. The figure in the foreground represents Ceres and stands atop what was the North of Scotland Bank. Behind the Citadel rises Virginia and Marischal Courts examples of council housing, in concrete and granite, from the 1960s.
