About MeGeorge Cassie & Son Limited was a prominent local engineering business which specialised in the manufacture of granite working machinery: frame, wire and circular saws ; polishers of the Jenny Lind type and its own development the Seaton Polisher. In addition the company also made boring machines and general plant for quarries. Originally sited on King Street the company moved to larger premises at Craigshaw Road (formerly the premises of Harpers Ltd). The business went into liquidation in 1982.
