About MeThis dress comes from a collection characterised by pleated gathered fabrics and 'waterfall' outlines, shell shapes and bright irridescent colours. It contains several elements of Bill Gibb's signature style, such as the attention to detail, exuberant trimmings and flowing multilayering of mobile fabric.
The jewel-like colours of this example are particularly outstanding. This dress, originally worn by the Duchess of Bedford, clearly demonstrates the designer's fluid use of the lurex fabric and distinctive pleating so typical of this period in his career.
More About Me
This particular collection was inspired by waterfalls, conveyed in this piece through the knotted cord, beads and hoops on the front, whilst the iridescent colours add to the aquatic impression.
