About MeThis work is part of a major collaboration between Aberdeen based artist, Dave Jackson and an artist from Orkney, Mary Scott. It was first exhibited in Aberdeen in 1990 as a touring exhibition called The slockit light: a visual cycle in four movements. The exhibition consists of twelve seasonal constructions which illustrate stories and abstract imageries from the Scottish Highland’s folklores and legends.

The title of the exhibition is named after the song Da Slockit Light by Shetland fiddler Tom Anderson (1910–1991). The song was inspired by the depopulation of rural Shetland as the lights in the crofts went out (slockit means put out a light) as people left the area. The piece is very slow and melancholic.

This artwork represents the month of February. It comprises twenty eight separate framed works symbolising the twenty eight days of February, the shortest month in the calendar.
