About MeThe Chemical Works at Dyce was founded in 1869 by John Milne. orignally it manufactured "artificial manure", largely from grinding, crushing and digesting bones. In 1895 a superphosphate plant was introduced. !922 and a sulphuric acid plant was added. John Milne and Co. was absorbed into Scottish Agricultural Industries. With the development of superphosphate production at Sandilands Chemical Works production at Dyce was shut down (c.1957); the sulphuric acid plant ceased production at Dyce about 1955. Therafter, until closure in the early 1960s production concentrated upon granular compound fertilisers.
