About MeRichard Irvin were once operators of a major fishing fleet, had bases in South Shields and Aberdeen as well as shipyards in Peterhead. They owned dry dock businesses and ice making plants in England. Irvin also had extensive manufacturing and supply of maritime equipment, as well as ship repair businesses in both Scotland and England. They had in addition a fishing enterprise in South Africa.This plate would have been attached to ships navigation lamps made and supplied by the company. It dates to after 1887 as that was when the Aberdeen branch was set up.
