About MeDonald Cameron joined the Seaforth Highlanders on October 1918 and remained in military service until April 1920 (discharged Gordon Highlanders). In that year he moved to Aberdeen where he joined the City Police. His main beat became the harbour area. Constable Cameron retired from the police September 1950 after thirty years service. This medal was presented by his colleagues in 1946. It followed his apprehension of an escaped prisoner. The prisoner, one Stanley Farrington, had escaped from Peterhead Prison on the 21st of November. Constable Cameron captured the man sometime after midnight (on the 22nd) on South market Street.
