About MeThe Burin or engraver is used for line engraving. It is made of steel and usually about four inches long. It is a four cornered or lozenge shaped bar of steel ground down obliquely to the cutting end. The burin is held at a sharp angle to the plate and pushed with the palm of the hand onto the metal.
