Additional InfoThe Curwen Press was founded in 1863 by Rev John Curwen in Plaistow, East London and closed in 1984. It is survived by the Curwen Studio and the Curwen Print Study Centre. A subsiduary The Curwen Studio opened in November 1958 led by printmaker Stanley Jones MBE. It established a tradition of creative fine art prints by leading modern artists including Paul Nash and Edward Bawden. It moved to Linton near Cambridge in 1989 when the lease of its Tottenhamcourt Road premises expired. The Curwen Print Study Centre was set up in 1991 and is now based in Great Thurlow, Suffolk.
