DescriptionExcavation in 1977 by Aberdeen Council Archaeology Unit in advance of development recorded cobbling, two walls, one of which a possibly 17th century boundary wall, on what was a very disturbed area. This area, adjacent to the site of the medieval Dominican friary (Blackfriars NJ90NW0041), founded in the early 13th century, had been comprehensively scarped in the 19th century. One feature was observed, however, a stone wall foundation which may have dated to the 14th or 15th century. Remains of brick flues from the 20th- century Mitchell and Muil's Bakery were particularly apparent. The finds from this site are in the collections of Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums.

Site lies to the E of the plateau formed by the top of Schoolhill, occupied "until 1971-2 by the premises of Mitchell and Muil's bakery, and previously by dwellings along the W side of Harriet Street. (Stones 1982)
