About MeJames McBey was born in the hamlet of Foveran near Newburgh, not far from this scene, which depicts the estuary of the River Ythan at its widest point where it runs into the North Sea. Although James McBey spent much of his adult life abroad, he returned many times to the place of his birth and painted the flat landscape of the Ythan basin frequently.Samuel Bough
