(Richard and Bridget Larn (1997) SHIPWRECK INDEX OF THE BRITISH ISLES (Lloyd's Register, London) vol. 3 section 6)

26/10/1877:
WRECK OF BRIG AT SUNDERLAND. The brig JAMES HORN, Falconer, of Aberdeen, laden with lime from Sanderland to Aberdeen, and which sailed from Sunderland, yesterday afternoon, drove ashore, behind the roudhead, South Oatlet, about 8 o'clock, last night. The crew were taken off by the rocket apparatus, and lodged at the Low Street Police Station for the night, there not being accommodation in the Sailors' Home for them. During the night, her cargo of lime had swollen to such an extent that the vessel burst, and is now a total wreck. The wind was from the eastward the time of the vessel coming ashore, but not very strong. The JAMES HORN is a brig of 150 tons register, and is the property of the Aberdeen Commercial Company, Aberdeen.
