About MeShort, puffed sleeves can often be seen on garments of this period as they add bulk to the shoulders, giving the illusion that the waist is much smaller. The wide-leg trousers depicted in the drawing were fashionable during the 1930s but narrowed slightly after clothes rationing was introduced in 1941.
