About MeThe stonework of the Firhill Well, or "Gibberie Wallie" - so called, it is surmised, because of gingerbread and other sweeties being sold here by packmen and "gibberie-wifies" - dates from the mid-18th century; the date 1759 is said to have been on the well at one time. According to the bronze inscribed plaque, its chalybeate waters had been noted for their curative properties from at least the year 1721. The wellhead and semi-circular stone benching were moved in 1937 from the original site-map ref. 937079-in Firhill Road and re-erected 43 yards (40M.) to the south-west in what is now a park and sports area.1841
