About MeJane Forbes trained in General Nursing and Maternity at Aberdeen (Woolmanhill), from 10 February 1899 to 10 February 1902.

During World War 1 she worked in Malta and Mesapotamia as a member of the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service. In 1922 Ms Forbes was awarded the Royal Red Cross (2nd Class) for special care to sick or wounded troops of all services.

The Royal Red Cross was instituted in 1883 by Queen Victoria and is the highest award a nurse can receive, except for bravery.
