About MeThis Gill measure at one time belonged to an innkeeper called Alexander Shand of Fintray, Kinellar. His initials (A.S.) are stamped on the top of the handle.

A Gill was a Scottish measure of liquid capacity, standardised in 1661. It was the smallest measure for liquids and equal to 0.53 litres today. English measures were imposed in Scotland in 1824.
