About MeAndrew Lamb graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000 and subsequently completed a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art in 2004. Last year he won The Arts Foundation Fellowship Award for Jewellery, using part of the award to travel to Padua in Italy to work with goldsmith Giovanni Corvaja.Lamb is interested in optical illusions and visual effects and he translates these themes into his work by creating refined forms from fine lengths of layered precious metal, which subtlety appear to move and change colour. He also finds inspiration in the linear patterns and structures abundant in nature and woven textiles, which brings a certain Japanese quality to his work.
The brooch is constructed with a combination of fine lengths of 18ct yellow and rose gold. The wire has been twisted and layered to create a rippling texture which results in a sculptural, three-dimensional piece. The subtle colour variation playfully draws in the eye and gives the jewellery a life of its own.
