Dear Lady Ramsay
Your letter of the 9th inst. reached me only last night. I have consulted Mrs Allan, about the subject and we agree that the Liberal Women can do nothing officially in the way of cooperating with the members of the W.S.P.U. it would of course be directly opposed to our Constitution. We are however not bound as individuals, and I shall be delighted to have a talk with you, say on Tuesday. Tuesday first the 14th inst. at or about 11 am. It is a long way for you to come, and I shall invite a few of the more ardent reformers in our committee to meet you here.
Marmofield Car is nearest to us.
At a Com: meeting of the W.L.A. convened on Wed: last to consider a request by Mr. Murray M.P. for our cooperation [as a W.L.A. (crossed out) ] in a meeting at which Miss Pankhurst is to speak, it was unanimously agreed that we could not as an association work for it but that individual members were at liberty to do so. I presume Mrs Pethick Lawrence comes for the same evening.
I am gratified to observe the sensible stand taken by the lady students re- Mr. Asquith's nomination. Perhaps this will do something to convince him that women do want the vote especially so, if through their stand he should be defeated.
With kind regards I am very sincerely yours
B V Black
