About MeThis is part of a collection of documents relating to Caroline Phillips (1874-1956), an Aberdonian journalist who was involved in the women's suffrage movement. The collection contains important correspondence between Phillips and key leaders in the suffrage movement, including Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst.Sir,
Things have come to a pretty pass in the Aberdeen Liberal Association when a chief reporter is declined at press ticket for one of his own staff, when she happens to be a woman & a suffragist. This is what has happened in my case & I am prevented from exercising my duties as journalist by these coercive means.
The opponents of the Liberal Party may well say that Liberalism is dead. The chief had absolutely silence on my part. While at the table & was informed
that although I represented the paper in United Kingdom I should be refused admittance.
