About MeArtist Sheila MacFarlane lives and works on the north-east coast, at Tangleha, near St Cyrus. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art in the 1960s where she was in a cohort of talented young students which included John Bellany. MacFarlane completed her studies in Paris having won a scholarship to study printmaking at the famous Atelier 17.Finella was the daughter of a 10th century Earl of Angus who held the lands around Fettercairn. According to the ancient 'Chronicle of the Kings of Scotland', Finella murdered King Kenneth II to avenge the death of her son, luring the king into a boobytrap, consisting of crossbow device. The prints tell the story of Finella's legendary flight from the king's men, running through the treetops before leaping into a rocky waterfall.
