General History:
16/04/1806:
The smack NELSON, of Aberdeen, armed by Government, commanded by Captain Smith, on her voyage from Aberdeen to London, was attacked by a French lugger privateer, off Flamborough Head, on Sunday last [14 April]: Captain Smith immediately prepared for action, stood up to the lugger, and fired several guns; upon which the lugger immediately hauled her wind and stood out to sea in great haste - to the spirited conduct of Capt. Smith, the owners are indebted for the safety of the vessel and cargo.
