About MePurple velvet toque hat lined with black silk and decorated with two rows of crotched gold metallic thread. By the time of the First World War the large fussy, overly decorated hats of the Edwardian period had fallen out of fashion, replaced by close fitting plain hats that were the precursor to the cloche that would be so popular in the 1920s.
