About MeGlasgow-based Sara Barker is one of the rising stars of the Scottish art scene. The lightness and delicacy of her work has led writers to compare her work to ‘drawing in the air’. Although three-dimensional, it is firmly rooted in painting, the medium in which Barker originally trained. Katharine Stout writes: ‘Barker’s work itself exists in a liminal space between media, in particular between sculpture, painting and drawing.’ As such, Barker’s works sit at the verge between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, calling into question the very definition of sculpture, and the paragone heatedly debated since the Renaissance.
