About MeClare Neasham looks at her studio as an art kitchen - the perfect, white plate for nouvelle cuisine, made from laminates, rubber flooring, plywood and chrome tin. Her work, or batterie de cuisine, evokes the streamlined styles of the 1950s and 1960s.She describes her recent work as 'taking everyday furniture of the world and making it into witty furniture of the mind'. This treatment of everyday materials provides a way for her to examine icons of mass manufacturing, transforming these modern-day status symbols into visual art.
