About MeBlack satin skirt with a draped effect over the hips shown with a cream silk long sleeved blouse with a double layer of frills. This outfit is typical of late 1950s style. The pencil or hobble skirt was made popular by Yves Saint Laurent at Dior about 1959. Although the skirt is narrower around the hem, by comparison to the large crinoline-style skirts also popular at the time, it still maintains a fashionable feminine shape, emphasising the hips and small waist with flaring around the top of the skirt.
