About MeThis optical or mirror galvanometer was used by Frederick Soddy during his time at the University of Aberdeen. The galvanometer was a precision tool used to measure electric charge. The extendable brass tube which projects up can be adjusted to alter the distance of the scale from the mirror which is inside the galvanometer, and the three levelling feet can be adjusted to ensure the instrument is completely horizontal. The top of the brass galvanometer, which was made by Gambrell Bros in the late 19th to early 20th century is inscribed: “Univ. Abdn. Chem.
