About MeSolid circular cast steel tool with two semi-circular recesses on upper and lower surfaces. The top is surmounted by two cast rings, where separate link that moves freely would attach to the main body of the machine. The underside has been worn smooth by the polishing action.

The Jenny Lind was invented in America and first came to the north east around 1885. Local granite yards were quick to realise its potential for polishing much larger pieces of stone. This was due to its design - the grinding ring is suspended from two hinged gates which can be swung around to cover a large area.
