About MeBlack and white photograph of the inside of a shed with four men operating vertical polishers. The shed is brick and stone construction with a window and a roof light. Shelving with various equipment, tools and shotting rings are visible along each wall. In the centre are four men, three of them holding vertical polishing shafts. The fourth man holds a hand tool and stands next to two long pieces of rectangular stone.
The man in the left foreground has a small paddle nearby, presumably to move the abrasive solution around on the surface of the stone. He is holding the shaft of the polisher in his right hand and appears to have some kind of leather (?) pad or protective gear tied around his fingers and secured to his wrist.
All the men are wearing aprons to the waist, shirts, waistcoats and caps.
