About MeAberdeen's 'Wings for Victory' poster from the Second World War. There were many national savings campaigns to support the war effort, and ‘Wings for Victory’ supported the Royal Air Force.

This poster includes the dates 19th - 26th June, and its likely referring to 1943. A ‘Wings for Victory’ parade was held at Culter on 21st June 1943. 'The Sun News - Pictorial' - a Melbourne based newspaper - printed the following article on 21st June 1943: "Big British Savings. London. Sunday, AAP. - Speaking at Aberdeen in the Wings for Victory Campaign, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Kingsley Wood) said that since the war began the small man had saved £2,150,000,000. This, he said, provided about 20 percent, of the Government's borrowing needs, and would mean much toward social stability after the war. More than £500,000,000 had already been subscribed in England and Scotland to the Wings for Victory campaign".
