About MeFarquharson's reputation as a painter is based on his masterful snowscapes which earned him the nickname 'Frozen Mutton'.Dead sheep and scavenging crows are a common sight to the country dweller but it was unusual for Farquharson to depict the more grisly aspects of rural life.
A larger version of this picture exists in Manchester City Art Gallery but it differs little from the Aberdeen picture.
More About Me
This painting certainly lacks the optimistic warmth of most of Farquharson's other snowscapes.
