About MeThis soft ground etching was produced by watercolourist and etcher Thomas Girtin and published the volume, "The most Picturesque views of Paris and its Environs", 1803. From the number given in brackets after its title we know this was the 18th of 20 original views. From late 1801 to early 1802, Girtin spent 5 months in Paris where he painted watercolours and made a series of pencil sketches which he etched on his return to London. Sadly, Girtin died later that year aged only 27.
