About MeRobert Scott Lauder became Master of the Trustees Academy in Edinburgh in 1852 and soon was exerting a magnetic attraction upon brilliant students. The principal members of this group were William Quiller Orchardson, John Pettie, William McTaggart, George Paul Chalmers and Hugh Cameron. For the Victorian English public, the works of those gifted young artists established the concept of a 'Scotch' School - a dextrous style, clever in handling, exploiting sketchy draughtsmanship and broken colour.
More About Me

Lauder’s career was short-lived. After studying in Edinburgh, he was elected as an original member of the R.S.A. in 1830. However, in 1860 he suffered a paralytic stroke after which he no longer practiced.
