About MeArthur Briscoe was a marine painter who worked in both oil and watercolour. He was also a keen yachtsman and wrote 'Handbook on Sailing' under the nom de plume Clove Hitch.

Like Alfred Munnings, Alfred Parsons and John Cole, Briscoe's work is entirely figurative and traditional and completely at odds with the major art movements that were developing in mainland Europe at the time.

More About Me

Briscoe was a traditional figurative painter and etcher, usually of marine subjects, whose work provides a valuable history of the commercial workings of his time.
