About MeCameron was introduced to etching whilst in Edinburgh. His subjects were mainly landscapes and architecture. In his oil paintings he approached the same subject matter with a breadth of design and pure harmonious colour. His unpeopled landscapes are imbued with a serenity and majesty.Working at the same time as the colourists, Cameron deals with the light and colours of Scotland in a very different way. He did not depict shimmering sunlight with rapid, vigorous brush strokes, but gave his subjects an overall clear light and a high degree of finish.
